Girl'southward 24-hour interval (Korean: 걸스데이 ) is a S Korean daughter grouping formed by Dream T Entertainment in 2010. The group consists of members Sojin, Minah, Yura, and Hyeri. Members Jisun and Jiin officially left the group in 2010, while Jihae left in late 2012.

After said member departures, the quartet went on to get ane of the most popular and commercially successful groups of its era. In order of release, the grouping's biggest hits include "Twinkle Twinkle", "Hug Me Once", "Expect", "Something", "Darling", and "Ring My Bell", all of which accept sold more than one million digital copies each.

Over the span of their career, Girl'due south Mean solar day has endorsed over 20 brands, including LG Electronics, Ezaki Glico'southward Pocky, Lotte World, Nexon and Bullsone. Daughter's Twenty-four hours ranked 13th in Korea Ability Celebrity in 2015, a list ranking Korea's virtually powerful and influential celebrities.[1] In 2016, the grouping ranked 26th, whereas member Hyeri ranked 3rd.[two] [3]

In 2019, the four members decided non to renew their contracts with Dream T Entertainment, just have stated that they haven't disbanded.[4] Their last release was the EP Everyday #five in 2017.

Career [edit]

2010–2011: Debut and Everyday [edit]

In July 2010, Girl'south Day debuted with five members: Jihae, Jisun, Jiin, Sojin, and Minah. The get-go song by Daughter'south Day, "Tilt My Head" ("갸우뚱"), was released on July seven. Their debut EP Girl's Twenty-four hour period Political party #1 was released ii days subsequently. The group followed upwardly promotions for "Tilt My Head" with the song "How About Me" ("나어때"), for which they released a music video on July 21. Two months subsequently the group debuted, members Jisun and Jiin left the group to pursue individual interests. Current members Yura and Hyeri were and so added to the group to replace them. The new lineup'due south digital release Girl's Day Party #2 became available on October 29. The song "Cipher Lasts Forever" ("잘해줘봐야") was used as the lead track of the digital single.

In March 2011, Daughter's Solar day digitally released Daughter'southward Day Political party #3, with the single "Twinkle Twinkle" ("반짝반짝"). The song was a commercial success, ranking 4th on Melon'southward digital monthly nautical chart in Apr.[five] Overall, the vocal ranked 39th on the service's annual nautical chart. On May vii the group performed in their starting time overseas concert held in Taiwan. The concert was organized by the Korea Tourism Organization, and also featured performances past U-Kiss and Super Junior M.

In July, Girl's Day released a second EP titled Everyday, with "Hug Me Once" ("한번만 안아줘") as the championship rails. The group released Girls' Solar day Party #4 in September, with the track "Don't Flirt" ("너, 한눈 팔지마!"). Both releases performed well digitally, ranking in the summit 50 of Melon'southward digital monthly chart post-obit their release.[5] The song was written and produced by Gang Jeon-hyong and Nam Ki-san, who as well produced previous singles "Twinkle Twinkle" and "Hug Me One time".

2012–2013: Everyday ii, Expectation and rising popularity [edit]

2014–2016: Everyday #3, Everyday #4, I Miss Yous, Beloved and Japanese debut [edit]

On Jan 3, 2014, Girl's Day released their 4th EP, Everyday 3, which was largely produced by Duble Sidekick. The music video for the championship track "Something" ("썸씽") reached over a million views within a day. It became their highest-charting unmarried, peaking at #2 on both Billboard's Korea K-Pop Hot 100 and the Gaon Digital Nautical chart. The vocal also ranked first on the monthly Gaon Digital Nautical chart, and remained in the top 10 of the Korea Thou-Pop Hot 100 for eight weeks. Daughter's Day live promotions for "Something" won 5 music show awards, and later won 'All-time Dance Performance by a Female Group' at the 2014 Mnet Asian Music Awards. The song ranked ninth on Melon's digital annual chart.[5] In July, the group released their fifth EP, Everyday iv, with the atomic number 82 single "Darling", which ranked 27th on Melon's digital annual chart.[5] On October fifteen, the group released the EP and ballad single "I Miss You" ("보고싶어").[10]

In May 2015, Girl'due south Solar day released the unmarried "Hello Bubble" in an endorsement with haircare brand Mise-en-scène.[11] The group traveled to Okinawa in June to film for the MBC reality programme Ane Fine Twenty-four hour period.[12] Girl'due south Twenty-four hour period released their second full-length anthology Love, forth with its title track "Ring My Bell", in July 2015.[13] During promotions for the anthology, the group faced controversy over their July 7 appearance on a Korean internet-streamed program, ChoiKoon Television set. The Girl'south 24-hour interval members were criticized by audiences for what was seen as disrespectful behavior, and appeared on the stream the following day to offer an amends.[14] [15] Nevertheless, "Ring My Bell" remained in the acme 10 of Melon's monthly digital chart in July despite controversy.[five] On September 30, Girl'southward Mean solar day made their Japanese debut with the album Girl'southward Day 2015 Fall Political party. It contained Japanese versions of the singles "Darling", "Twinkle Twinkle" and "Ring My Bong". The group too held a showcase in Taipei on Nov one, performing twelve of their songs to an audition of 2,000 fans.[16]

2017–2019: Everyday #5 and departure from Dream T [edit]

On March 2, 2017, Dream T Entertainment announced that Girl'south Day was set to comeback later 21-month long hiatus during which the members focused on solo activities. The bureau revealed that the grouping is in the process of wrapping up recording for their title runway, and the comeback was set for belatedly March 2017.[17] On March x, Dream T Amusement confirmed that Girl'due south Day was set to make their comeback on March 27 with their new mini album.[18] On March 17, Dream T Entertainment released the group's comeback schedule and revealed that the new album would be the 5th part of the "Everyday" serial.[19]

On the day of their comeback, the official music video for "I'll Be Yours", the title track, was released simultaneously on the official Girl's Day YouTube channel and 1theK's aqueduct; the music video on 1theK'due south channel surpassed 2 million views in less than 24 hours. Their new EP, Everyday #5, debuted at No. 7 on Billboard'south World Albums chart this week.[20] Domestically, the championship track ranked second on the Genie chart and 11th on the Melon chart.[21]

In 2018, all 4 members were torchbearers at the 2018 Winter Olympics.[22]

On January 11, 2019, information technology was reported that all of the members would non re-sign with Dream T Amusement and they would join separate agencies while not officially disbanding.[23] [24]

Ambassadorship for Plan Korea [edit]

In August 2013, Daughter's Day were appointed honorary ambassadors for the Program Korea campaign "Considering I Am a Girl".[25] That month the grouping visited Chiang Rai, Thailand, where they carried out volunteer work.[26] The group returned to Thailand a year later to participate in a campaign for girls' birth registration.[27] The unabridged gain from the group's concert in 2014 were donated to back up the nascence registration of girls in developing countries.[28] In February 2016, Sojin and Yura represented Daughter'southward Day as Plan Korea ambassadors in Cambodia, volunteering at a schoolhouse where they held art and music workshops.[25] Minah and Hyeri did not join the trip due to disease and drama commitments respectively. In 2017, Hyeri was appointed equally ane of the ambassadors for the Count Every Kid birth registration campaign.[28] [29]
